"It wasn't a trick question," wryly observed Washington Monthly blogger Steve Benen. But House Majority Leader Eric Cantor preferred to take an indirect route to answering a familiar question by Meet the Press host David Gregory: "There are elements of this country who question the president's citizenship, who think that his birth certificate is inauthentic. Will you call that what it is, which is crazy talk?" After chuckling, then negotiating around the word "crazy" ("I don't think it's nice to call anyone crazy," he said) the Republican then tried to look past the question.
