Video: Rand Paul Wants Cut Foreign Aid to Everyone

Erik Hayden Jan 31, 2011
As Mediaite's Matt Schneider noted, Rand Paul is one of the few legislators offering specific ideas for cutting federal spending. His prescription? Halt foreign aid to everyone. In a conversation with CNN's Wolf Blitzer, the Tea Party Senator was frank when asked whether he'd cut aid to--for example--African nations, Haiti, and Israel. Paul couched his argument in the fact that he has "sympathy" for the recipients of such aid, but that these funds are all too often misused by corrupt dictators. And, in the case of Israel, Paul fretted that the amount of aid the U.S. sends to the nation's enemies inadvertently funds an "arms race" in the region.
