And now, Arnold airs his dirty laundry. As the Los Angeles Times reports, Schwarzenegger publicly admitted fathering a child a decade ago with a member of his household staff who'd worked for him for twenty years. Conveniently, he had told Maria Shriver only after he had left the governor's office, which presumably led to their high-profile split.

Allegations of womanizing have dogged Arnold since the "groping" allegations during his 2003 run during the recall campaign for governor. He's said he makes "no excuses" for his actions. Although the names and additional details of the other woman and the child are scant at this moment, we're sure we'll be hearing plenty more about the scandal in the next few days.

Imagine if the news broke while Arnold was still the real governator rather than just an aging 80's star with cartoon series prospects. Arnold's statement:

After leaving the governor's office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago...I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry.

Update: and Maria Shriver's statement:

This is a painful and heartbreaking time...As a mother, my concern is for the children. I ask for compassion, respect and privacy as my children and I try to rebuild our lives and heal. I will have no further comment.
