Even Newt Gingrich's Fundraising Team Has Now Quit

Right now, the Newt Gingrich campaign is still on a downward spiral: more of his top staffers have resigned, the Associated Press confirms. On the heels of a mass resignation of 16 staffers (for which Callista Gingrich has been blamed, unfairly or no), fundraising director Jody Thomas and fundraising consultant Mary Heitman have now officially left the struggling contender's camp for unspecified reasons. Cheer up Newt: remember John McCain had to lay off nearly all his staff during the summer of 2007. And he still ended up with the nomination--much good that did him.
