The Senate voted unanimously Wednesday to extend Robert Mueller's term as FBI Director through September 2013. The vote was 100-0.
Muller's ten-year term was set to expire on August 2. The position of FBI Director is term-limited to ten years, notes the Associated Press, but President Obama signed a bill yesterday providing a "one-time extension" in order to keep Mueller on the job for another two years.
CNN notes that Mueller, who took over the job just before 9/11, is already the second-longest serving director in the bureau's history, behind only J. Edgar Hoover.
