Only a week and a half after making his presidential run official, Perry is leading as the Republican favorite according to the latest Gallup poll. Mitt Romney had led before Perry joined the race. Michele Bachmann may have won the Iowa straw poll, but Gallup has her fourth behind Romney and Ron Paul. And Perry even leads among possible contenders who look like they might announce their candidacy, but for some reason haven't yet joined the race. Gallup has him a good 14 points ahead of Sarah Palin. Rasmussen, as the Wire reported earlier today, doesn't currently have Perry stacking up quite so well against Obama, though. Bizarrely, in a separate poll, they found Ron Paul doing pretty well in that category.
