Always check your schedule before you get too populist: Mitt Romney mocked President Obama for heading to Martha's Vineyard later this month for a little R&R amid a troubled economy. Striking a slightly populist note during his Wednesday stop at a New Hampshire steel plant, Romney took a dig at the presidential vacation while he responded to news of Obama's upcoming economic policy speech: "It's too little too late, but we appreciate the fact that he's going to devote some time to it. Not just going to be on the bus tour, not just going to be vacationing in Martha's Vineyard, but giving some thought to the American people." However, as Think Progress' Alex Seitz-Wald points out, Romney will also be on the same island as Obama for at least a day during the president's trip. The Boston Herald reported last month Romney will host a $2,500-a-plate fundraiser August 27 in Edgartown, which is just across the island that Obama's visited the last two summers. The fancy location doesn't match well with either candidate's message on fighting for the downtrodden unemployed.
