The Senate has passed legislation that would allow the Federal Aviation Administration to reopen with funding until September 16th. As National Journal reported: "The deal was approved in the Senate under a procedural move under which all senators agree. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid struck the deal with the administration after the public began questioning why lawmakers were allowing the shutdown to continue while Congress was on break." The shutdown had not only been costing the FAA much needed taxes from fuel and cargo, it also may also have posed safety hazards for U.S. airlines.
