Obama to Promise Future Jobs While Perry Campaigns on Existing Ones
The best thing Rick Perry's got going for his presidential campaign is Texas' great jobs record -- as we've heard many times in the month since the governor got into the race, 40 percent of the jobs created since the recession began were created in Texas. But that beautiful data point just hit a snag: in August, Texas lost jobs -- 1,300 of them -- worse than the nation performed as a whole, with zero job growth, NBC News' Michael Isikoff reports. Texas' unemployment rate is now at 8.4 percent, a 24-year high for the state but still below the national rate of 9.1 percent.
