Florida's decision to reshuffle the GOP calendar by holding its primary vote on January 31st had a domino effect. South Carolina scheduled its vote a over a week earlier, and now Nevada has officially set its caucus for January 14, The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. The scheduling moves, all attempts to have Iowa-like influence in choosing a presidential contender, have served to push the potential dates for the first two contests in New Hampshire and Iowa even earlier. Politico's Reid J. Epstein speculated that Nevada's move could set NH's date at January 3rd, which would mean that Iowa may hold its caucus on the day after Christmas, December 26th. One candidate who's presumably pleased with Nevada's early vote is Mitt Romney: his "campaign had pressed Nevada Republicans to move the caucuses into January so that he could maintain momentum coming out of New Hampshire, a state he expects to win," the Review-Journal wrote.
