Jon Stewart looked at the high-pitched rhetoric over President Obama's recess appointments and compared the outrage over the relatively arcane and minor bureaucratic loophole with the complete lack of outrage over his more clear-cut expansions of presidential authority. The hypocrisy angle is almost-too-easy here: Republicans like John McCain and Rick Santorum criticized Obama's appointment of Richard Cordray to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau while Congress wasn't fully in session even though George W. Bush pulled the same tactic to get the quite un-bipartisan choice of John Bolton in as ambassador to the U.N.
