Rick Santorum's campaign is raising eyebrows after announcing he plans to make a major foreign policy speech at the Jelly Belly factory in Fairfield, CA, on Thursday. Santorum's seemingly bizarre location choice is clearly an ode to Ronald Reagan, famed for his love of jelly beans. But we have to say that in terms of messaging, there were probably other ways to pay tribute to the Cold Warrior while discussing a weighty topic that don't involve a goofy-sounding candy. The Jelly Belly Doctrine just doesn't have a muscular ring to it. But then, Reagan did have a policy popularly named after a George Lucas movie, so anything's possible.
