Santorum and Gingrich Can't Stop Squabbling Over the Spoiler Pick
You'd think bankruptcy, getting cut off from his billionaire backer, bouncing a $500 check, and getting beat by Rick Santorum might have brought down the Newt Gingrich campaign by now. But no, what dictates whether or not Gingrich will quit, the former Speaker of the House says, is how much the tiny state of Delaware loves him. "I think we need to take a deep look at what we are doing," Gingrich told NBC in an interview Monday.
NBC's Alex Moe writes, "[Gingrich] acknowledged that he would have to 'reassess' his campaign depending on how he fares in Delaware, a winner-take-all state with 17 delegates at stake." And as we all know by now (thanks to Herman Cain and Rick Perry), "reassessing" is not a good thing for campaign runs. If he wins Delaware, that gives Gingrich three (yes three) primary wins, and supposedly enough incentive to keep this lopsided primary process going.
