The Democratic National Committee has shifted into high gear now Mitt Romney is the guy to beat, and they're headed straight to YouTube, posting a video juxtaposing Romney's affection for Ted Nugent with the musician and hunting advocate's threats against the president.

It's pretty awkward, especially since the video starts off with Mitt's voice saying, "It's been pretty fun to get to know him, Ted Nugent" but then moves into some of the scarier threats the guitarist has made against the president, including, " ”If Barack Obama becomes the president in November, again, I will be either be dead or in jail by this time next year.”

Sure, Nugent is known for his outrageous political comments, so maybe this is just another bit of "phony outrage" for a season full of it. As ABC News' Jake Tapper tweeted dismissively: "Ted Nugent etch-a-sketched a picture of Hillary Rosen." What about Seamus the dog?
