Buddy Roemer Calls It Quits

You might want to sit down for this: Buddy Roemer has suspended his presidential campaign.  "Today, I am no longer a candidate for President of the United States," wrote the former Louisiana governor in a blog post this morning. He said as much on his Twitter account and Facebook page. (We'll give him credit for running a great social media campaign: Roemer is even on Instagram).

"After 17 months of a wonderful campaign, the lack of ballot access in all 50 states makes the quest impossible for now," he wrote. Roemer's whole post is a misty-eyed, soft-focus farewell to his campaign--he mentions garnering seven percent of the vote in an unnamed national poll and mentions that he's leaving the campaign with no debt (the same can't be said for one moon-loving candidate)--which is sort of great way to remember Roemer's run. Though if you're a hard-hearted realist who may have lost the twinkle in his or her eye, Politico's Alexander Burns suggests that the writing was on the wall for Roemer after Americans Elect folded is probably more up your alley.
