Catholic League's Porn-Mailing Protest Is Sort of Working

The Catholic League has taken to mailing "a color photo of a naked woman with her legs spread" to executives at companies that advertise with The Daily Show with Jon Stewart to get them to leave the program, and the apparently, they're having some success. According to Buzzfeed's Rosie Gray, the Catholic League's Bill Donohue launched the protest last month after Jon Stewart made a joke on The Daily Show as part of some longer riff that involved showing a graphic of a woman with her legs spread and a Christmas manger blocking the vagina.

The Catholic League announced that Delta Airlines had stopped advertising with the show and Buzzfeed's Gray confirmed this, though Delta "denied that the decision had anything to do with 'any opinions expressed' by the show," Gray writes. (Left unreported: whether their fatigue at receiving a barrage of vagina mailings from the Catholic League in any way influenced their decision...) At any rate, Donohue is claiming victory. But, cereal company Kellogg's has so far rejected calls to stop advertising, so ... uh oh. From a recent press release:

In other words, Kellogg’s is telling Christians to shove it. But they made a mistake. We will now send the indefensible picture to their senior management and board, as well as to community leaders, religious and secular, throughout Battle Creek, Michigan. We are also calling for a national boycott of all Kellogg’s cereals.

Did you ever think you'd see the day when a conservative Catholic organization would spam pictures of naked women to random citizens of Michigan? We're guessing probably not.
