Hey folks, we've reached that awkward point when our favorite Republicans, felled during the primaries, now have to take back all the nasty things they said about Mitt Romney and endorse him to get some attention. Up today: Michele Bachmann. Apparent;y she now believes that Mitt Romney isn't the liberty-killing frugal socialist she once said he was.  Here's her endorsement Tweet:

She might as well have re-tweeted Romney himself. Anyways, it's a tepid statement from a politician whose claim to fame is saying outrageous things and not apologizing for them. And it's also funny considering this is what she said back in November, via Talking Points Memo:

“Unfortunately for too many Republicans, they also aspire to be frugal socialists,” Bachmann told an audience at the Family Research Council in Washington, citing health care in particular as a telltale indicator. “We cannot preserve liberty if the choice is between a frugal socialist and an out-of-control socialist.”

Ahh, well, the election (and the cameras that follow the process) has a funny way of working things like that out and, apparently, helps  bury whatever frugal socialist grudges may still be lingering. Just ask one-time Romney nemesis Rick Perry.

Reuters' Matthew Keys has the full endorsement (if you're interested).
