Update: Basking in his funny joke, Sen. Reid's office has uploaded a clip of him delivering the line for your entertainment:

Original: Surely it's a sign that a meme has hit the mainest of mainstream when it trickles up to the Senate majority leader. According to the tweets of several reporters, Reid responded to a question from Roll Call's Stephen T. Dennis about Sen. Mitch McConnell and the DREAM Act with, "I don't want to answer that question. That's a clown question, bro," which was met with guffaws from the audience. (He then went on to answer the question anyway.) Reid was, of course, quoting baseball's Bryce Harper of the Nationals whose colorful dismissal of a reporter's question took the internet by storm last week. Todd Zwillich of The Takeaway has some very high quality audio of the moment with Reid (complete with his actual answer.)

But we're left wondering: What is happening to our generation gap when Colin Powell sings "Call Me Maybe" on national TV and Harry Reid pulls out something like this? It's closing fast, we tell you. The trenemies are everywhere.
