Jon Stewart Chips Away at 'You Didn't Build That'

Jon Stewart delves into the debate surrounding President Barack Obama's "you didn't build that" line last night on The Daily Show. Or rather, he delved into the lack of need for debate around Obama's poorly worded assertion that businesses received government help to succeed. "You really wanna hang your entire campaign on a willful, out of context misunderstanding?" he asked the Mitt Romney campaign.

Stewart first looks at how Fox News handled it: By editing out the part of Obama's speech where he talks about bridges and roads, and by interviewing the founders of Cool Blast Lemonade, 7-year-old and 4-year-old sisters. Unfortunately for Fox, the mini-entrepreneurs said they did have help from "investors," their dad, stepmom, and friends and family. "So they had help from their families. Literally Big Brother," Stewart joked.

The real problem: This wasn't a gaffe on Obama's part, Stewart said. "Mr. Romney, hanging your attack on someone's slight grammatical misstep is what people do in an argument when they're completely f--cked and they know they have no argument."
