President Obama raised $71 million in June, but that's $35 million less than Mitt Romney, the president said in an email to supporters Monday. "We still got beat. Handily." Obama's campaign said 706,000 people donated to him, while Romney's campaign said 537,000 people made donations of $250 or less, which accounted for 94 percent of its monthly haul. It was expected that Romney, the challenger, would outraise the president for a few months, just as John Kerry outraised then-President Bush from March to June of 2004. But Obama's campaign worries that it will be outraised for the rest of the election. Obama strategist David Axelrod claims that when combined with Super PACs, Republicans will spend $1 billion this election.
