Capitol Police are investigating threats made against Todd Akin, his family, and staff of rape and violence ever since he made his opinion on rape and abortion known on Sunday. Akin spokesman Steve Taylor said, "there’s been threats of rape of staff, the congressman’s family, and suggestions that people die," since Akin said it was rare women got pregnant from 'legitimate rape' on Sunday. Per Politico's report, the threats have come from phone calls, emails, and over Twitter. The U.S. Capitol Police and the FBI are investigating which threats are legitimate. A Capitol Police spokeswoman, Lt. Kimberly Schneider, would only say it's an "an active, open investigation," and, "we don’t discuss the security of Members of Congress."
