Obama Campaign Calls Romney Crazy for Complaining About Attacks

Mitt Romney gave a speech in Ohio accusing the Democrats of running a "campaign of division and anger and hate," on Tuesday night, so the Obama campaign called him crazy instead of the usual telling him to stop complaining.

What set Romney off was Joe Biden's "They're gonna put y'all back in chains," remark from earlier this afternoon. Almost immediately after he said it, a Romney campaign spokesman called it "a new low." But Romney was a bit wordier with his response in Ohio on Tuesday night, complaining about the state of the campaign and how the Democrats are playing ball like the Republicans usually do. He called the chains comment "another outrageous charge," and said the White House "sinks a little bit lower," with their latest attack. "So Mr. President, take your campaign of division and anger and hate back to Chicago and let us get about rebuilding and reuniting America," Romney said. He also said Obama was "intellectually exhausted," and that he's been making "wild and reckless accusations that disgrace the office of the presidency."

And here's where we get to the fun part. Obama press secretary Ben LaBolt released this statement in response: "Governor Romney's comments tonight seemed unhinged, and particularly strange coming at a time when he's pouring tens of millions of dollars into negative ads that are demonstrably false," he said. Unhinged, deranged, demented, whacko, nuts, crazy ol' cuckoo pants. There's a nice variety of terms LaBolt could have chosen. In Mitt's defense, he's had a busy few days, so maybe he's just tired. Politico's already calling it "the death of the high-minded campaign," but we'd like to respectfully disagree
