Steve Jobs once told Barack Obama that he was "headed for a one-term presidency." Despite their differences, the President still cited Jobs as an example of the American dream in this line from his DNC speech: "We believe that a little girl who’s offered an escape from poverty by a great teacher or a grant for college could become the next Steve Jobs." One of our commenters appreciated Obama's mention of Jobs.

Eric Read writes

I kind of like that, actually. If Obama is trying to make a point about the economy, he didn't avoid mentioning Steve Jobs just because they have differences in politics. It could be that Obama isn't personally threatened by a superstar CEO who doesn't like him or agree with his politics. Our politicians should be more like that -- not personally threatened by differences of opinion, not have knee-jerk reactions to what someone thinks. Our politicians should be big like that.
