In her post on Friday Night Lights showrunner Peter Berg telling Mitt Romney to stop using the iconic phrase, "Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose," Esther Zuckerman noted that many musicians have already asked the campaign to stop using their songs. What songs do politicians have left?, wonders one commenter. Rhett Chassereau (scoring his second comment of the day this week) writes:

It'll eventually get to a point where only public-domain music will be used, and candidates will come on stage, at their conventions, to a roaring rendition of 'Little Brown Jug'.

Well, Romney could stump to Clint Eastwood's song from the end of Gran Torino. But these scratchy vocals and melancholy piano doodles don't exactly put one in the mood to rock the vote.
