So those rumors that Vogue editor Anna Wintour is being considered for an ambassadorial position in the Obama administration are popping up again. And if this plays out just like the past two times Wintour was reportedly set to become an emissary to the UK, her people will be telling us she's not interested in 5... 4... 3... 2.... We heard the rumblings about Ambassador (Annabassador?) Wintour in June, when her reps denied any interest in leaving Vogue: "These are just rumors. She’s quite happy at her current job." Which isn't that different from what her PR rep said in 2009: "The rep also insists that Wintour has no intention of stepping down from the magazine she’s helmed since 1988." The rumors have consistently allowed Wintour to tell us how much she loves Vogue.

Knowing that, we remain skeptical of this third round of Annabassador (sorry!) rumors, no matter how fun it might be to think of fashion's mean girl trying to be all diplomatic. Here's the report, from Bloomberg:

President Barack Obama is considering nominating Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, as his next ambassador to either the U.K. or France as he looks to reward his biggest fundraisers with embassies never out of fashion, according to two people familiar with the matter.

For what it's worth, this whole thing could be a brilliant plan from Wintour's people to ensure her hall-of-fame status at Vogue and further cement her place at Condé Nast. How many editors get to tell their bosses they're rejecting a presidential offer every couple of years?
