The British House of Commons voted on Wednesday in favor of a bill that would legalize gay marriage. And while the stodgy House of Lords still has to weigh in, Parliament thus far has managed to push forward legislation without comparing gay marriage to bestiality, or incest, or polygamy. That was a sign of hope to Daily Show host Jon Stewart, who compared the civilized manner of debate practiced among Britain's pols to the acidic (and often wrong) rhetoric of U.S. Republicans on the same issue. The contrast, after all, is quite striking:
