Scientist and educator Bill Nye is best known for his 1990s educational children's show, "Bill Nye The Science Guy." But did you know he's also a bare-knuckle advocate for fighting climate change? On Wednesday's Rachel Maddow Show, Nye confronted conservative-led murmurs that blizzards sweeping the East coast "disprove" climate change. "It's very reasonable that a snowstorm in Washington that's this severe is a result of climate change," he said. Here's the clip (starts about five minutes in) and the money quote below:

If you want to get serious about it, these guys claiming that the snow in Washington disproves climate change are almost unpatriotic. It's really--they're denying science. So, they're very happy to have the weather forecast be accurate within a few hours, but they're displeased or un-enchanted by predictions of the world getting warmer. It's really--it's a--it shakes me up. [...]This thing of denying science--you know, science has done so much to make this country what it is, a technological leader. It's improved the quality of life for so many people, here and around the world. To deny what scientists or scientific evidence is showing, is inappropriate. And as I said earlier, to me, when I get wound up, it's unpatriotic.
