Ripping a page out of the Oprah playbook, Google is giving everyone who attends its annual I/O conference a prize. No it's not a brand new car: It's a brand new smartphone. Attendees will receive either a Nexus One or a Verizon Droid, Jason Kincaid at TechCrunch reports. The conference is an opportunity for techies and developers to learn about Google's latest breakthrough technologies. Last year, Google surprised guests by handing out Android phones on the spot. This year, attendees get phones shipped in advance.

Will Google inspire the same kind of unadulterated ecstasy that Oprah does? Depends. Can a room like this:
