According to a new study released today by the Pew Research Center, Twitter participation among African-Americans and Hispanics more than doubles that of Caucasians. As you can see, African-Americans have been particularly keen to adopt Twitter, with a quarter of the demographic who use the Internet plugged in to the service. Hispanics are not far behind, with almost a fifth of their internet-using population on Twitter.
Is Twitter a model of digital ethnic harmony? Maybe, though it's not clear how truly integrated it is. And of course there's still evidence of digital racial tension. But at the very least, unlike the real world we're all new to this neighborhood.
