When Reddit likes something, it gets really really liked. After someone posted a photo of a Kenyan orphanage worker who took a machete to the face while fending off the thieves, the Associated Press reports the site raised $80,000 in less than a week for the orphanage. It's a big sum, but it also demonstrates Reddit's wide reach: "More than 3,600 people donated from all 50 U.S. states and 46 countries -- Slovenia, Brunei and Estonia included. One donation came in from the USS Mount Whitney."
