It has easy-to-manipulate Web graphics, an oversimplified narrative, and hits a political hot spot: Barack Obama's new campaign tool The Life of Julia was apparently built specifically to be co-opted by right wing meme-makers.
This Republican primary has seen plenty of drop-outs so far -- five by our count -- and each one came if not by surprise, then at least all of a sudden: The rumor of an announcement, the hastily called press conference, then the "suspension" a few hours later. Not Newt Gingrich.
Let's imagine that Mitt Romney does win the presidency and that he selects Rick Santorum for some position of authority within it: We're guessing the U.S. Post Office is doomed.
Amidst the cacophony of the Republican primary, it's easy to forget that Barack Obama is going to have to jump into this fray eventually. However, the reality, revealed in dozens of speeches he's given at closed-door fundraisers few bother to read, is he's been practicing for his campaign for nearly a year.
At this point in the show we're basically down to the final two. And, really, the final one. We know who's going to win this thing, but the season's not over yet, so we have to watch challenges that ultimately don't mean anything but at least make for some good TV.
The Obama campaign's national finance director Rufus Gifford sent an email on Thursday reminding everyone that "there's nothing better than getting a good deal when you're shopping for the holidays" and urging people to take advatage of a $5 coupon at the Barack Obama 2012 campaign store.
