Obama'a Phony Deficit Numbers

President Obama was disingenuous when he said that the budget deficit he faced "when I walked in the door" of the White House was $1.3 trillion. He went on to say that he only increased it to $1.4 trillion in 2009 and was raising it to $1.6 trillion in 2010. As Joe Wilson said, "You lie."

A Hollow SOTU

When President Bill Clinton faced Congress in 1995, after first losing any hope of health care reform and then control of Congress, he used his State of the Union speech to declare, "The era of big government is over." President Obama's State of the Union speech last night only served to remind us that the era of big speeches is over.

Big Problems, Small Solutions

Obama might seem the major loser if Washington remains stalemated on these issues or must settle for piecemeal gestures. But if the political system can no longer formulate enough consensus to take big bites out of big problems, the real loser is America's capacity for renewal. On the nation's toughest challenges, inaction could be the most decisive, and destructive, action of all.

Never Heard That Before

If the two parties could get together and remove the growing sense that our country is politically paralyzed, you would not need another dime of stimulus money.
